About Me.
Born in 1990 in İstanbul, Gülce Baycık is a tiny person who specializes in illustration and art direction for over 10 years. She finished Visual Arts and Communication Design in Sabancı University with a scholarship. After graduating in 2012, she continued working for global advertising agencies like Tribal Worldwide, GREY and Voden-Leo Burnett as an art director. Now, she’s working internationally as a freelance illustrator with her animal kingdom as her co-workers. She was the lead artist of the video game “Cats and the Other Lives” by Cultic Games; illustrated more than 10 children’s books published by Puppy Dogs & Ice Cream, İthaki Çocuk and Kırmızı Kedi Çocuk; and her other clients include Algida, Merck, McDonald’s, Saat&Saat etc. Her motto in life is “Stay Weird”.
Her work is extremely detailed to a fault. She aims to manipulate the digital medium to awaken feelings of the nostalgia of a traditional painting, along with a sense humor, eeriness and melancholy. Specializing in portrait art, her love for animals also affects the themes of her pieces profoundly.
